Trust and Verification

What each badge means, how we check it, and what it does not mean. Plain and simple.

Verification helps provide additional information about a user or company, but it is not an endorsement or guarantee by Foam Genius Network. Users should perform their own due diligence before entering into a working relationship.

We do not run criminal background checks, and we do not verify identity documents.

Foam Genius Verified

Foam Genius Verified: Email and phone number confirmed. Not an identity or background check.

  • What we check: The account holder controls the email address and the mobile phone number on the account.
  • How: We email a confirmation link, and we text a one-time code to the phone number through our SMS provider. Both have to be completed.
  • What it means: Someone with access to that email and phone created the account. It is required before anyone can send messages, which helps keep out throwaway and spam accounts.
  • What it does not mean: It is not an identity check, a background check, or a check of skills, experience, licenses, insurance, work history, or conduct. The phone and email are never shown to other users.

Foam Genius Verified Employer

Foam Genius Verified Employer: Our team found reasonable signs this business is real. Not an endorsement.

  • What we check: Signs that the business is real and matches its company page.
  • How: A person on our team looks at information such as the business website and public listings, and may call the business phone.
  • What it means: When we checked, we found reasonable signs that the business exists and that the page represents it.
  • What it does not mean: It is not an endorsement or recommendation, and it does not confirm licensing, insurance, payment practices, working conditions, safety, or legal compliance.

Proof checked (on a certification)

  • What we check: A document the worker uploaded for that certification.
  • How: A person on our team looks at the uploaded file and compares the name, issuer, and dates with what the worker listed.
  • What it means: The document looked consistent with the listing when we reviewed it.
  • What it does not mean: We do not contact the issuer, so it does not confirm the certification is authentic, current, or still valid, or that the person is competent to do the work.

Self-Reported information

Self-Reported

  • What we check: nothing. Experience, certifications, insurance, equipment, and work history are stated by the person.
  • What it means: this is what the person says about themselves.
  • What it does not mean: that we confirmed it. Always confirm certifications, insurance, and licenses directly before work starts.

Profile review

  • What we check: new worker profiles and company pages before they first go live.
  • How: a person on our team reads the profile and looks for spam, obvious fakes, and content that breaks the rules.
  • What it means: the profile passed a basic check for spam and obvious problems.
  • What it does not mean: that we verified the person, the business, or anything they wrote, or that we recommend them.

Reviews

  • Who can review: only a company and a worker who accepted a connection or worked together through Foam Genius Network.
  • What it means: the opinion and experience of that person or company.
  • What it does not mean: the opinion of Foam Genius Network. We don't verify what reviews say. We don't edit reviews or accept payment to remove them. Anyone can report a review that breaks the rules, and our team can hide it.

Stay safe

  • Keep conversations on Foam Genius Network until you trust the other person. Your phone and email stay private here.
  • Never pay to apply for a job or to get hired.
  • Never send bank details, your Social Insurance Number or Social Security number, or ID photos through messages.
  • Be careful with offers that seem too good, ask you to move money, or push you to leave the site right away.
  • Meet at the job site or the company's shop, and tell someone where you are going.
  • Job sites, equipment, and travel carry real risks. Decide for yourself whether a job, site, or working relationship is safe for you.

Report a problem

Use Report on a profile, company page, post, conversation, or review, or contact us. Our team reviews every report. A report alone doesn't decide anything: we look at it before acting. We can hide profiles, posts, and reviews, and suspend or close accounts. Anyone can block someone from messaging them.
